Focus on the weather today

The Meteorological Department states that the southwest monsoon will be active throughout the country from today.

Showers or thundershowers will occur at several places in the Sabaragamuwa Province and in the Galle, Matara and Nuwara Eliya districts.

Showers are also expected in the North Western Province.

Moderate to strong winds of 40-50 kmph are expected throughout the island and up to 60 kmph can be expected in the Central Highlands, North Central and North Western Provinces, Hambantota, Mannar, Vavuniya, Kilinochchi and Trincomalee districts.
