The confiscated canned fish is sold through Lanka Sathosa

Retired Rear Admiral Ananda Peiris said that after food control, a number of food items including canned fish confiscated by the Sri Lanka Ports Authority will be sold through Lanka Sathosa as per a Cabinet decision.

 

He further said that food items that were illegally imported into the country or not released from the port within the stipulated time will be confiscated and a stock of onions and potatoes confiscated by the Ports Authority will also be sold by Lanka Sathosa.

 

He said that when selling canned fish, a sticker affixing the brand name and name of the local trader is affixed and several complaints have been received from consumers who have bought canned fish.
