Saudi crown prince Mohammed bin Salman seems to have purchased a fake painting for $450 million He also pressured the Louvre to lie about the authenticity of a painting to spare him the public humiliation of having spent so much on a fake.
A new feature-length documentary “The Savior for Sale,” by French filmmaker Antoine Vitkine, reveals how the Saudi crown prince purchased the fake. “Savior of the World,” is a portrait of Jesus Christ that has been dubbed the “male Mona Lisa.”
Art historians say that the painting more than likely came out of Leonardo’s studio and then touched up by the master.
