Corona spike will make returning to Sri Lanka difficult

An increase of Covid patients is been reported and the government may limit the number of retunes to the country. Chief Epidemiologist Sudath Samaraweera said that the government may have to tighten quarantine procedures.
According to Samaraweera in 2021 out of 52,710 patients 1593 are those who have returned from abroad. In April out of the 3,480 cases, 538 ( 15.5 percent) are those returning from Middle East and Europe”
These statistics are rolling out while a ‘third wave’ is emerging in many parts of the world. Meanwhile many who are stranded in the Middle East are desperately trying to get back and many are flocking at the embassies seeking avenue’s to get back.
