Colombo Naval Exercise 2023 gets underway

 

The 2023 Colombo Naval Exercise (CONNEX) began on February 6 and will continue until February 13 on the West Coast.

This training program, which is being conducted by the Sri Lanka Navy for the fifth time, consists of both port and sea phases with the aim of maintaining the operational efficiency of the Sri Lanka Navy.

The port phase started on February 06, Navy and Air Force personnel exchanged views on opportunities, rules and communication protocols, and yesterday (February 09) the sea phase started with the Sri Lankan Naval Ship Satellite.

CONEX – 2023 aims to foster a stable ocean region by eliminating potential unconventional maritime security threats in island waters and maintain the operational readiness and effectiveness of the Sri Lanka Navy's naval units.

Further, enhancing the knowledge and skills of naval personnel and developing interoperability with the Sri Lanka Air Force are other key aspects of CONEX for a wide range of operations and response to emergencies.
