Central Bank loan exceeds trillion rupees - Former Governor

Former Governor Ranjith Tennakoon has said that the Central Bank of Sri Lanka is currently indebted to the tune of one trillion rupees and that the face value of Central Bank treasury bills and bonds has exceeded one trillion rupees for the first time in history.

He added that in addition to treasury bills, the central bank had printed Rs 198.2 billion.

The former Governor further stated that Sri Lanka is slowly but surely heading towards a massive financial crisis.
