Cabinet approves 21st Amendment to the Constitution

The Cabinet has further postponed the approval of the proposed 21st Amendment to the Constitution.

According to the Minister of Justice Wijayadasa Rajapaksa, the weekly Cabinet meeting held yesterday did not give the green light to the constitutional amendments as it was decided that the leaders of the political parties need to be further informed in this regard.

Accordingly, several political party leaders will be briefed on the 21st Amendment to the Constitution at a discussion to be held next Thursday.

Thereafter, the 21st Amendment to the Constitution will be approved at the Cabinet meeting next Monday.
