A woman from Avissawella has been arrested on suspicion of financial fraud.

On Saturday, Nawagamuwa Police apprehended a lady for financial fraud. She allegedly took money from multiple people and promised them opportunities in Japan, according to police.

Nawagamuwa Police has received two separate complaints from victims. According to police, she was apprehended in Korathota. The complainants had given the suspect Rs. 361,000 and Rs. 485,000 in exchange for visas to Japan.

The suspect, who is 49 years old, lives in Dehiowita, Avissawella. According to police, she had previously committed similar offenses. According to Nawagamuwa Police, she was facing 32 court cases and 17 warrants.

The investigation is ongoing.
