Weather Alert - Public to be vigilant to minimize damages due to strong winds and lightning during thundershowers

Showers or thundershowers are expected in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, North-Western, Southern, and Central provinces at various times. Showers with a total rainfall of 75 mm are forecast in certain areas.

In the sea areas around the island, the winds will be south-westerly. The wind will be blowing around 30-40 km/h. In the sea territory spanning from Kankasanturai to Puttalam via Mannar and in the sea area extending from Galle to Pottuvil via Hambantota, wind speeds can reach 60 kmph.
