4.9 million Covid excess deaths in India

A study has revealed that the Covid 19 situation has led to a high death toll of 4.9 million in India.
Official data show that the Delta variety, which is often the most prevalent and dangerous, surpassed the health care system and killed at least 170,000 people in May alone.
World Health Organization (WHO) chief scientist Saumya Swaminathan said it was important to find an excess mortality rate in every country, and that it was the only way to fix future trauma health systems and prevent further deaths.
The number of daily infections in India has been declining since May.
