Imran Khan sent to two-week judicial remand in ‘cypher’ case

Imran Khan sent to two-week judicial remand in ‘cypher’ case

Former Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan has been placed under judicial remand for a two-week period due to allegations of leaking state secrets, according to his lawyer.

Khan's custody has been extended until September 13 for further investigation into the "cypher" case, where he is accused of publicly disclosing the contents of a confidential cable from Pakistan's ambassador to the United States for political gain.

Khan's lawyer has filed a bail petition, which is set to be heard on Saturday.

This development follows a recent suspension of Khan's three-year jail sentence on corruption charges by the Islamabad High Court.
