May 28 is a Day to Celebrate!

The burger is not a food for many, but an exciting passion! They are popular in terms of many reasons. Among all, they are fast, easy, inexpensive and tasty. International Burger Day is celebrated on May 28, all around the world, annually. Formerly considered inferior to prime slices, ground beef was considered a cheap byproduct but is now popularly used for hamburgers. Burgers are enjoyed with different toppings, condiments and variations. Let it be pan-fried, flame-broiled or barbecued, Hamburger Day is to celebrate them all!

 

The word “Pentecoste” which means ‘50th Day’ in Greek, is celebrated on May 28th this year. The day is also known as Whitsunday and is a major festival in the Christian church and is celebrated by believers on the Sunday that falls on the 50th day of Easter. The Day is celebrated by Catholic priests in red robes having draped the altar of the Church in red cloth. Pentecost marks the beginning of the Christian church’s mission to the world.

More than 820 million people are suffering from hunger and the day is dedicated to encouraging action to bring this to an end. Since the world began, a significant half of the world’s population has suffered from hunger. Hunger, the lack of financial or physical capability to meet their nutritional needs, leads to many lost term issues including, malnutrition, wasting, stunted growth, and death. According to The Hunger Project, hunger kills more than AIDS, malaria, and tuberculosis combined, and it’s primarily prevalent in Africa and South America.
