Thailand: The island of Phuket welcomes its first foreign tourists.

Thailand has welcomed its first visitors who will not have to be quarantined back to the island of Phuket as the government strives to rebuild its tourism sector. As part of the "Phuket Sandbox" concept, about 250 people, mostly from the Middle East, were supposed to come on four flights on Thursday (1 July) . None of the visitors will need to be quarantined, but they will be unable to travel to the mainland for 14 days. If the idea is successful, the country plans to expand it to additional islands, with full border opening anticipated for October.
