A weightlifter from New Zealand will be the first openly trans athlete to compete in the Olympics
Laurel Hubbard, the first openly transgender athlete to compete in the Olympics, has been added to the women's weightlifting squad for the 2020 Olympics in Tokyo.
Hubbard, 43, will compete in the women's over 87 kg (192 pound) category.
Her choice, though, has sparked debate. Some claim Hubbard will have an unfair advantage in the competition because she went through male puberty.
