Montana becomes the first US-state to ban Tik-Tok

Montana bans the Chinese-owned media giant Tik-Tok becoming the first US state to ban this application from personal devices. On Wednesday, Governor Greg Gianforte signed the ban into law. With effect from the 1st of January, it is due to take. 

 

Currently, TikTok has become under scrutiny from authorities globally, concerning the fact that data could be passed to the Chinese government. 

 

A Republican, Mr. Gianforte remarking that a wider ban would come into effect further, stated, "our shared priority is to protect Montanans from Chinese Communist Party surveillance."
