Sri Lanka’s Samitha Dulan wins bronze at World Para Athletics Championship

On Thursday (July 13), in Paris, France, Sri Lanka's Samitha Dulan Kodithuwakku achieved a remarkable feat by winning a bronze medal at the World Para Athletics World Championship 2023. 

 

 

Competing in the Men's Javelin Throw: F46 event, the 33-year-old athlete threw a distance of 64.06 meters, securing the third-place position. This achievement comes after his previous success at the 2020 Tokyo Paralympics, where he also won a bronze medal with a personal best of 65.61 meters.

 

 

Kodithuwakku, who serves as a Corporal in the Military Police of the Sri Lanka Army, had previously participated in various international para-athletics events, including the World Para Athletics Championships 2019, Asian Para Games in Indonesia 2018, World Para Games 2019 in Dubai, and National Para Games. He joined the Sri Lanka Army in December 2009 and hails from Deniyaya.
