Health Min. team to probe A’pura infant’s fatal fall

A special investigation is set to begin on the 17th into the tragic death of an infant who fell off a delivery bed at Anuradhapura Teaching Hospital. 

 

 

The Ministry of Health is sending officials to investigate allegations of negligence by hospital staff. 

 

 

The hospital's director, Dr Dulan Samaraweera, stated that the incident occurred on August 10th during an expected delivery, and the baby passed away in the Intensive Care Unit on August 13th. 

 

 

Dr Samaraweera emphasized that the hospital staff acted adequately and that a thorough investigation is required before making any conclusions. He also highlighted the complex and time-consuming nature of the delivery process.
