National security not lost yet, but possible - MR

It is not yet possible to say that the country's national security will be lost, but it could happen, former President Mahinda Rajapaksa said at the War Heroes' Memorial in Battaramulla yesterday.
The Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) held their commemoration event this morning at the National War Heroes' Monument.
“We fought for peace and to free the country and not to take over anyone. It is uncertain whether the National War Heroes’ Commemoration will continue to be held in the future. That decision lies with the current government,” he said.
Commenting on recent remarks by President Anura Kumara Dissanayake, the former President added, “The President’s speech indicated that this might be the last War Heroes’ Commemoration event. Even so, the people will continue to mark this day in their own way. While the President claims that war is a disaster and a tragedy, and yes, it is our armed forces who prevailed. In any war, one side must eventually claim victory.”
