Tutor Hayeshika Fernando still at large - three police teams probe

Controversial female primary tutor Hayeshika Fernando, who is still at large over an assault involving a youth, is wanted by three police teams, the police said. 

 

Reputed among Grade Five scholarship students as ‘Teacher Amma’ (mother teacher) for her private tuition classes, Fernando started evading arrest since last week, when a youth was hospitalised in Negombo over assault charges. 

 

Katana Police conducting preliminary inquiries learned that the teacher had allegedly kicked the youth in his groin, whilst her husband and manager too had beaten the youth. 

 

It was learnt that the youth had been hired by the tutor to train one of her staff, a young woman in computer operations and found that the former had allegedly sexually harassed the young woman. 

 

The incident had reportedly led to the assault of the youth by the tutor and the two others.   

 

The police last week arrested Fernando’s husband and manager, who were produced before court and ordered to be remanded till today (14). 

 

According to police, the teacher had fled her home and has cut off all communication from her mobile phone.
