A man is missing after falling into the Kelani River

A man is missing after falling into the Kelani River, the police said. The incident has taken place last evening in the Attanakelaya area of Yatiyantota.

 

The missing person has been among a group of pilgrims returning from Kelaniya that made a stop in the Attanakelaya area. The pilgrims have been waiting there for lunch when the man slipped and fell into the water. He has gone to the river bank to wash his hands. 42-year-old, this person has been swept away in a strong water current.

 

The Navy is searching to locate the missing person.
