Police identify 52 areas with highest crime rate: Public Security Minister

The Sri Lanka Police have identified 52 police areas countrywide with the highest crime rate, Public Security Minister Ananda Wijepala said in Parliament yesterday. 

 

He said law enforcement authorities are currently discussing possible measures to be taken to control this situation. 

 

He said 15 STF teams have been deployed in these areas to ensure security.

 

Minister made these remarks while responding to a question by Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa regarding the escalating gun violence in the country.
