Woman arrested for suspicious behaviour near Kochchikade Church released by court

A woman who was taken into custody near the Kochchikade Church due to her suspicious behaviour yesterday has been released after being produced before the Colombo Magistrate's Court yesterday.
The woman, who had arrived at the church premises with a PickMe driver, was arrested by the police due to suspicious behyavior and the absence of a valid airline ticket, despite her claim that she was scheduled to leave the country the same night.
However, upon being produced before court, the suspect produced her airline ticket and passport, which confirmed her travel plans. Following the verification of the documents, Additional Magistrate Keminda Perera ordered her immediate release, stating that no further investigation or judicial orders were necessary.
Police told court that the arrest was precautionary in nature and based on standard security protocols in place around sensitive locations.
