Japanese Govt. provides Rs. 170 Mn for Northern demining

The Government of Japan has provided around $547,443 (approximately Rs. 170 million) to the Skavita Humanitarian Assistance and Relief Project (SHARP) for demining activities in Northern Sri Lanka.

This contribution aims to support reconciliation and sustainable development in the conflict-affected region.

The project is anticipated to facilitate the resettlement of more than 400 internally displaced individuals and improve the livelihoods of over 2,300 people by clearing landmines in the Kilinochchi and Mullaitivu Districts.

Ambassador Mizukoshi Hideaki emphasized Japan's dedication to aiding the conflict-affected area to achieve reconciliation and fostering sustainable development in Sri Lanka.
