Five men smuggling Rs. 71 Mn worth Kush arrested at BIA

Five local males attempting to smuggle in Kush worth Rs. 71.5 million from Bangkok were arrested by Sri Lanka Customs at the Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) yesterday.
The passengers had reportedly travelled to Bangalore in India before arriving in Sri Lanka to mislead the authorities, as many recent Kush detections were made targeting those who return from Thailand.
The officials found seven kilos and 150 grams of Kush concealed in their baggages.
The narcotics had been valued at Rs. 71,500,000. A gram of Kush has a street value of Rs. 10,000 in Sri Lanka.
The arrested suspects are from the Slave Island, Kotahena and Dematagoda areas.
They were handed over to the Police Narcotic Bureau for legal proceedings.
