The veteran actor, R. G. Perera bid farewell to his life

Galhenage Rathnapala Perera, the veteran actor in cinema, theatre and television in Sri Lanka has bid farewell to his life at the age of 83. G.R. Perera was born on 13, November 1939 and he debuted his film career in 1971, with the film, “Welikathara”.

 

His maiden television acting role came through “Thunkal Sihinaya” by Tissa Apeysekara. The role he performed in the tele series “Doo Daruwo” was his turning point in acting life. Including that, he has acted in more than 600 television serials.

 

He has also acted in six foreign films which include three Indian, two American, and one German film which is a fact to prove his outstanding performing skills.

 

G. R. Perera, who had been ill for a long period, had passed away today at his home, family sources said. The arrangements of his final rites will be announced later, family sources said.
