The tourism sector leading in the right direction

In the month of March, earnings from tourism almost reached $200 and such earnings for the first quarter reached $500.
The local tourism sector generated revenue of US $ 198.1 million in March, according to the provisional data released by the Central Bank. In rupee terms, the amount is Rs. 65.3 billion. In March of 2022, the revenue generated from the tourism sector was US $161.2 million. Thereby, the corresponding period of the previous year, March revenue expanded by 22 percent.
As the economic situation has begun to ease in Sri Lanka the tourism sector stakeholders have expressed positive comments in achieving improved performance in 2023.
