One million eggs to be expected in Colombo Port!

"Another shipment of 1 million eggs from India is expected to reach the Colombo Port. Once the pending approval is granted from the Department of Animal Production and Health for the consignment, the distribution will be started to bakeries and hotels,” said Chairman of the Sri Lanka State Trading (General) Corporation Asiri Walisundara.

 

2 million eggs from the previous consignment were also distributed to bakeries and hotels.

 

“Focusing the demand in the local market, the actions will be taken to import the required eggs in the
future since Cabinet approval has been already obtained to import 30 million eggs from India,”

 

“A falling price of the eggs can be expected in such a case.” He stated further.
