41 Sri Lankans attempt to enter Australia illegally and get caught

41 Sri Lankan immigrants were repatriated and deported from Australia after attempting to enter the country illegally. The immigrants were repatriated by the Australian security forces and this morning (09) at around 9.40 a.m. they reached Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) in Katunayake at around 9.40 a.m.

 

As reported, the majority of the deportees are residents of Jaffna and Valachchenai. Using multi-day fishing vessels, they had entered the Australian maritime border.

 

The deportees are expected to be presented before the Negombo Magistrate’s Court, after recording statements from the CID.
