Unite to defeat extremism, deliver justice to Easter attack victims - Gnanasara Thera

To genuinely bring justice to those who died and to those permanently disabled in the Easter Sunday bomb attacks, we must unite to defeat the rabid Islamic extremist forces that are spreading like a cancer in this country, Bodu Bala Sena (BBS) General Secretary Galagoda Aththe Gnanasara Thera said.

Addressing the media, he said that no such programme has been observed from the current government. Despite repeated announcements from various platforms promising immediate action to identify the mastermind behind the Easter bomb attacks, no visible preparations or concrete steps have been taken so far, the Thera said.

"Sadly, I have to say that all those groups that have been involved with global terrorism since the 1990s, who have been training for this, and who have sent young people abroad for this purpose, are still shamelessly with this government today," the thera said.

"The Thera claimed that the President had said he would reveal the mastermind behind the Easter attacks on April 11. He also said that those involved in the attack would be brought to justice and assured that such incidents would not be repeated in the future."

"In his speeches in Jaffna and Nuwara Eliya, the President said there is no place for racism in the country. In response, the Thera questioned the President's repeated use of the term 'racism,' asking, 'What exactly does he mean by racism?' He added that the President should clearly define what he means by racism and religious identity.

Therefore, Gnanasara Thera requested the government not to politicise the Easter attacks, as doing so could help conceal the true identities of those involved.
