CEB ends renewable energy curtailment ahead of schedule

The Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) announced that the renewable energy curtailment, which began on April 10 ahead of the Sinhala and Tamil New Year holidays due to reduced electricity demand and the need to ensure grid stability, has concluded earlier than planned.
CEB media spokesman Engineer Dhammika Wimalaratne said that initially scheduled to continue until 3:00 p.m. today (21), the curtailment period was successfully brought to a close at 3:00 p.m. day before yesterday (20), following a notable increase in electricity demand across the country.
As of now, there is no renewable energy curtailment in effect, he said.
"The CEB extends its sincere gratitude to nearly 100,000 solar energy suppliers and producers —including domestic rooftop owners, as well as Net Plus and Net Plus Plus commercial producers—whose cooperation during this critical period played a pivotal role in maintaining the stability of the national power grid," the media spokesman said.
"On behalf of the CEB and over 7 million electricity consumers, we express our heartfelt appreciation for the timely support received. This collective effort enabled the CEB to ensure a safe, stable and uninterrupted power supply to the entire country," the spokesman said.
