Several short-distance trains are cancelled 38 Long-distance trains on service

The Railway Department is going to operate 38 additional train services for the festive season, due to the increasing number of daily travelers.

 

According to Additional Railway General Manager Operations V.S. Polwattage, operating long-distance train services has been prioritized over short-distance operations. In addition, the usual train schedule of long-distance services is operational other than the special trains.

 

Additional Railway General Manager Operations V.S. Polwattage said priority had been given to operating long-distance train services over short-distance operations.

 

Other than the special trains, long-distance train services have been scheduled to operate as usual, he said. However, he further mentioned the possibility of cancellation of the normal office transportation services since the staff of short-distance trains has been assigned for long-distance train services and also the compartments have been attached as required necessities.
