Sri Lanka in a journey to promote tourism worldwide

In order to establish connections between Sri Lankan travel agents and Philippine travel agents The Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau (SLTPB) hosted a familiarization tour. The tour was organized and hosted by SLTPB in collaboration with Sri Lanka Embassy in Manila, Philippine. Nine Filipino tour operators took part in the tour and the primary goal of the tour was to increase awareness about Sri Lanka as a new travel destination.

 

Various tourist destinations were included to the tour including Sigiriya, Kandy, Nuwara Eliya, Yala, Galle, Bentota, and Colombo. The familiarisation tour varied from luxurious resorts to world heritage sites highlighting the cultural diversity and natural diversity of the island. The UNESCO world heritage, Sigiriya was given the top priority in this tour.

 

The initiative by the SLTPB and the Embassy of Sri Lanka in the Philippines remarks a commendable step in promoting Sri Lanka’s tourism industry and expanding its market reach. Further, the familiarisation tour offered an impressive experience for the Filipino tour operators to set up a strong business partnership with Sri Lankan travel agents.
