A minor earth tremor in the Hambantota area

A minor earth tremor has been reported from the Hambantota area this morning (April 24) at 12.45 a.m. As reported it was a tremor of magnitude 4.4 on the Richter Scale. 

 

However, the Geological Survey and Mines Bureau said that there are NO tsunami threats to Sri Lanka as a result of this minor tremor. The tremor happened around 25.8 km off the coast of Hambantota.
