The passports are to be issued in electronic mode

Within this year, the Department of Immigration and Emigration is likely to issue electronic passports.

 

Several foreign countries also have stepped forward to facilitate the shift, according to the Controller General of the Department of Immigration and Emigration, Harsha Ilukpitiya.

 

He further mentioned that the necessary measures have been already taken in this regard.
