A Buddhist monk gets arrested for causing injuries to a boy

Weerawila Police today arrested a Buddhist monk who caused serious burn injuries to a boy by burning camphor on the boy’s palm to dispel evil planetary influence. The boy, aged 13 is reported as a resident of Weerawila Kura Gammana area. The boy is a student at a school in Weerawila new town.

 

As police has found, the boy has been abandoned by his parents and lives with his grandmother. She is the one who has taken the boy to this monk who burnt camphor on the boy's palm as a religious ritual to dispel evil planetary effects. Due to serious injuries, the boy was admitted to the Debarawewa hospital and was later transferred to the Hambantota general hospital for further treatment.
