Two persons killed in separate accidents

Two persons were killed and two others injured in separate train accidents.

 

One of the victims was a 25-year-old railway officer from Diyathalawa, who was inspecting the railway line between Perakumpura and Ambewela in the Pattipola Police Division. He was struck and killed by a train traveling from Badulla to Perakumpura on the morning of the 19th.

 

Meanwhile, an investigation has been launched into another fatal accident in the Sirinawakkulam area, within the Uyilankulam Police Division. A man died after being hit by a train while attempting to help his family members board a moving train at the Sirinawakkulam railway station. The train was enroute from Thalai Mannar to Colombo.

 

The victim sustained serious injuries and was admitted to the Mannar Hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries.
