The damaged railway is being restored

The severely damaged railway tracks are in the progress of the restoration in Kantale. A spokesperson of Sri Lanka Railways said that the task would be completed today.

 

The Trincomalee-bound train, which contained four carriages, toppled after the derailment leaving 16 individuals injured. 

 

The injured were five men with the railway guard and his deputy, nine women and two children. The injured are at Kantale Hospital under treatment.
