Abduction of schoolgirl - Actg. OIC Daulagala Police interdicted

The Actg, OIC Daulagala police has been interdicted and two other officers transferred for failing to take prompt action regarding the recent abduction of the schoolgirl.

 

The two officers transferred are the WCI of the Women and Children's Bureau and a Sub Inspector of the Crime Investigation Branch who had been on duty on the day of the incident. The former has been transferred to Kadugannawa police and the latter to Welamboda police with immediate effect by Senior DIG Central Police Lalith Pathinayaka after a preliminary investigation.

 

A senior police official said that on the day of the abduction, a police officer of Gamplola police who happened to be passing by the scene of the incident had informed the Daulagala police, but the officers on duty had not taken action.
