Why was Eric Perera transferred suddenly?

A number of mainstream media and social media have questioned the sudden transfer of Assistant Superintendent of police Eric Perera who is considered as courage’s and duty-bound officer. Reportedly, a ruling party politician s behind this move that is been criticized by many. The local politician is said to be displeased with Eric Pereras stern action on illicit alcohol brewing and sand mining.

 

While most police officers easily gave in to the demands of a certain local politician to safe guard the local underworld Eric pe3rera who was appointed to Wenappuwa acted very differently. During the previous government he ordered the arrest of a women pradeshya sabaha member who was riding without a helmet.

 

Track  record

Parlimentarian of the previous government repeatedly requested that Eric Perera be transferred out of the area as he was raiding illegal Kassppu dens. However the police department stood by him as he had an impressive track record.

 

Oska, a  pradeshiya sabaha representative was in to drug dealing and his son got arrested with heroin. The state minister called Eric perera and asked him to release the suspect or he will have to face the consequence.

 

Eric replied: ‘These people are destroying the area with drugs and if I just release the suspect how would I ware this uniform with honor”

Eric was informed of an underworld torture chamber of ‘Olumara” in the village of Sirigampola. Youth were beaten mercilessly for having allegedly cheated Olu Mara.
Olu Mara had high ranking police officers and politicians in his pocketFinally,  HE met his match in police officer, who had served in the STF and fought the LTTE.
No outsider could enter the area where Olu Mara operated as he had put in place a spy network. Youth of the area agreed to co-operate even at the risk of being killed .Olu Mara had to face Eric and later the courts. Now Olu Mara is back in the area c  is out of the area and.
