University teachers on strike

Prof. Shama Banneheka, President of the Federation of University Teachers' Associations (FUTA) has stated that he will withdraw from online studies from today in protest of the Kotelawala Defense University Act.

The professor said the bill would privatize free education.

Dr. Wasantha Bandara, the organizer of the National Coalition of Organizations stated that the bill should be amended or avoided.

Minister of State Anuradha Jayaratne stated that no final decision has been taken regarding the Kotelawala Defense University Act.
