Tea market brewing well

The New Year has been good for the tea industry. According to Forbes and Walker Tea Brokers the highest ever FOB value of Rs. 940.09 per kilo, was etched in February.
However the volume has decreased, , tea exports in February amounted to 23.16 M/kgs, down by 0.49 million kilos from a year earlier. Turkey buys most of our tea while followed by Russia and Iraq and china been the prime buyers.
Tea production in February has increased by 23% from a year ago and better weather conditions are among the man reason for this positive gain.
Pay Hike
Meanwhile tea plantation owners are not very happy with the government directive to increase the daily wage for tea plantation workers to a minimum of one thousand rupees a day.
