Stringent guidelines on use of children for TV reality shows and commercials issued

The National Child Protection Authority (NCPA) has reached a decision to set stringent guidelines in relation to the use of children for television reality shows and commercials.

A Gazette Notification will be issued in future banning the use of children aged below 13 years for TV reality shows, said the Chairman of the National Child Protection Authority, Professor Muditha Vidanapathirana.

He added that all TV channels in the country must comply with the said guidelines and the protocols and legal action will be taken against the channels in the event that they fail to comply with the above.
