Some fertilizer imports allowed

The Finance Ministry has allowed for some fertilizer imports. According to a newly issued gazette notification, any shipments of agrochemicals that were seaborne on or before May 5 will be allowed into the country.
Meanwhile, Commercial banks have been instructed not to proceed with any payment in respect of the importation of fertilizer and agrochemical items shipped on or after May 6, 2021. The industry leaders say that they are confused because the listing of banned teams are not clear.
chemicals like transfluthrin (insecticide), thiobencarb (herbicide), fenamiphos (insecticide) and glyphosate; and fertilizers urea, ammonium sulphate and potassium sulphate are allowed and mixtures of ammonium nitrate with calcium carbonate or other inorganic non-fertilising substances, mixtures of urea and ammonium nitrate in aqueous or ammoniacal solution have been banned.
