Health authorities searching vaccine alternatives

As hope of getting the Indian vaccine is fading away the health authorities desperately exploring alternatives. The United States and Australia have been consulted on the possibility of purchasing  Oxford AstraZeneca vaccines.

 

According to presidential advisor and vaccine task force chief Lalith that with COVID-19 cases surging in India, it would be difficult to expect quick delivery of the AstraZeneca vaccines from India.

 

However, Weeratunga is confident that the Government is still capable to supply the 1 million doses ordered by Sri Lanka earlier.
He said that the gap could go up to 16 weeks and the government could manage things within that time period.
