Premalal Jayasekara not qualified to serve as an MP : A toss to determine a Parliament seat

Premalal Jayasekara, who has been sentenced to death, cannot take a seat in Parliament or exercise his vote due to his sentencing as per the Attorney General.

 

For the first time ever in the history of Sri Lanka's General Elections,  a lottery will decide the candidate who will enter  parliament if a seat from SLPP in Ratnapura district gets vacated.

 

 

 Ranjith Bandara and Sunny Rohana Kodithuwakku who contested the 2020 General Elections from the SLPP had tied upon recieving the next highest votes in the Ratnapura district.
