Police stalls plans to have grand funeral for underworld gang leader

A plan to drop flowers during the funeral of a key underworld member in Hulftsdorp Colombo has been stopped with the intervention of the Police. The plans had been drawn to drop flowers for the funeral of Keselwatte Dinuka who has reportedly died of a heart attack in Dubai.

 

His body has been brought to Sri Lanka under a different name and was held back until it is established that it was Dinuka’s body. Senior DIG Deshabandu Tennakoon since Dinuka was accused of several murders and drug dealings they will not allow to have a grand funeral by dropping flowers from the air as it will set a bad example.

 

He said already a coffin valued at more than Rs 800,000 had been booked by the relatives. Dinuka had escaped to Dubai after he was wanted in several murder and drug cases in the country. His father too an underworld gang leader had died of the age of 35.
