Sigiriya Land :Sanga out or not out ?

Sigiriya Land :Sanga out or not out ?

Kumar Sangakkara and his wife have been accused of buying a piece of land in a fraudulent manner in the Sigiriya Mailaththawa area.
Dambulla Divisional Secretary Piyal Jayasuriya who contacted Sangakkara has informed him that the transaction is illegal.

Good Citizen

Meanwhile   Kumar Sangakkara himself has taken the initiative to inform the Registrar General of Lands complaining that deal is illegal and he has been acknowledged that he is a good citizen.

On the other hand  the lady who owned the land Ethul Pedige Padmini,is now is  in a difficult position as she can’t sell the land and she badly needs the money for medical treatment.

The husband Wimalasiri   spoke to reporter Kanchana kumara Aariyadasa:
“Mr. Sangakkara owns the land adjoining ours; which is near the lake. Sanjeewa, who is looking after the land, belonging to Sangakkara was  e handed  all the documents connected with this land and in return he promised to look after us  as long as we live. His promise to get us our medicine helped him win our hearts. We never thought that he would transfer the ownership of this land to someone else. “

Sanga’s Defense

In his defense Sngakkara said that he was unaware of the fraudulent act of describing him as a low income person in order to get the land transferred.
The Gramasevaka who is involved in the matter is now on interdiction.

Gentleman’s Game

Meanwhile the governor of the Central province has ordered further investigations.

It is not clear if the legendry cricket captain who has been often praised for decision making thought twice before getting in to this deal.
As for Sangakara what remains is whether he   has conducted business in ethical manner or not ? After all he is the leader of the ‘gentleman’s game’.
