Sajith calls SJB to show their strength at upcoming PC polls

Samagi Jana Balawegaya Leader Sajith Premadasa called the public to be prepared to give their responses to the government through the results of the upcoming provincial council election results.

 

Mr Premadasa was addressing the first anniversary celebrations of the SJB held at the Hyde Park corner in Colombo.

 

He said it was a historic day as since independence this was first the party which created record after record which is marking its first anniversary. “Even before a year was completed our party registered as a political party and returned the highest number of MPs who returned to Parliament in the shortest period after registration”.

 

Providing the background as to why the SJB was formed, he said the intention was end ‘deal politics’ and also to see that the common man  upwards the people are represented.

 

He said ending nepotism and supporting friendly groups was ended by the formation of the SJB.

 

He said there were brickbats and criticism,  but he has inherited that strength to face challenges similar to the skills shown by his father.

 

He said at the next presidential elections he was confident that they will have the next President from the SJB.

 

He said with COVID19 similar to the public facing challenges, the opposition too faced challenges by various facing various obstacles.

 

He said it was not that he inherited the crown from his father,  but it was the common man who placed him in that position.

 

 “We become sensitive when we look at the country’s current status”, he said.

 

“The people are facing a situation where they cannot eat the three meals  while due to the covid situation people have fallen from the frying pan into the fire’, he said.

 

“Be prepared to get involved in the national effort to protect the rights of the people, by taking to the streets.  Farmers and fishermen are affected  while the daily paid pages too are suffering. The Public sector and even the professionals are affected”.

 

“In few weeks the SJB will give leadership to campaign for the rights of the public.”

 

He said more money has been swindled from the sugar scam that the so called Bound scam.

 

Mr Premadasa said  he was ready to face challenges with his party supporters.

 

He said election after election the youth have been deceived and the same situation will not continue under a SJB government as the right person will be given the right job,

 

He said the health of the women and children should be protected as well as the youth and the era where the youth had to go behind the politicians will be ended.

 

He said the programme to eradicate poverty should be launched while the destruction of environment should be stopped.

 

He said they would take steps to set up a youth front to protect the forests.

 

He said as a Sinhala Buddhist he follows the principles of Lord Buddha and no where it has been told other communities should be destroyed or that the environment should be destructed.

 

He said that he would not allow to create religious issues and create divisions.

 

He said for the estate state a separate charter would be introduced to protect the estate wokers and special group of small tea holders will be set up.

 

He said if not for the sugar scam the vaccines for Covid 19 could have been given without any cost.

 

He said if he was in power, he would got down all the migrant weorkers who are stranded overseas.
