Petition filed seeking Karuna Amman's arrest dismissed

The Court of Appeal dismissed the petition filed seeking the immediate arrest of Deputy Minister Vinayagamoorthy Muralitharan over his controversial statement on the massacre of Sri Lankan army soldiers.

 

The matter was heard in the presence of President of the Court of Appeal Justice A.H.M.D Nawaz and Justice Sobitha Rajakaruna.

 

Moroever, the Court of Appeal stressed that National Elections Commission had informed the Acting IGP not to produce any election candidate in court until the 10th of August.

 

Accordingly, the Court of Appeal rejected the petition without issuing notice on the respondents.
