Petition filed against failure to release funds to hold LG election

 

A petition has been filed against the decision not to release the money allocated to the Election Commission for conducting the local government elections in the 2023 budget.

This fundamental rights petition has been filed with the Supreme Court requesting a verdict that the basic human rights of the public have been violated through the relevant decision.

Parliamentarian Ranjith Maddumabandara, General Secretary of the Samagi Jana Balawegaya, has submitted this petition naming the Secretary of the Ministry of Finance, the Chairman and members of the Election Commission as respondents.
